Brian Pounders Dada for the 21st Century

Biography

Brian Pounders has been compelled to create artwork since he was a child in Mississippi. His early endeavors taught him to be resourceful and to think creatively about available materials. His talent drove him to obtain a bachelor's degree in fine art from Mississippi University for Women, specializing in painting, drawing, and three-dimensional design. (Being the oldest state supported women's university in the country, MUW chose not to change its name when it converted to a coeducational institution in 1982.) Brian currently teaches visual art at Holloway High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he uses art to build confidence in and communicate with at-risk teenagers. In his current series, he creates collages to juxtapose a variety of images.
